Blaze FC and Merseyside Police to play football match at Prenton Park to raise money for Claire House

WIRRAL football team Blaze FC and Merseyside Police are getting together on Sunday May 3, to raise funds for Claire House.

The teams will meet at Prenton Park, home of Tranmere Rovers Football Club, and play football from 10am to 2pm.

A raffle will be drawn on the pitch at half-time.

Prizes include a one night stay and evening meal for two at Thornton Hall Hotel, Thornton Hough, a digital camera, meal vouchers, gym memberships and a shirt and football signed by Tranmere Rovers’ players.

Former Tranmere goalkeeper, Eric Nixon, will be there on the day to help raise even more money for the cause.

Claire House is a centre of excellence providing 24 hour respite, palliative, and terminal care for children and young people from birth to 23 years of age with a life threatening or life limiting illness, and their families.

It costs around £200,000 a month to keep Claire House open but it only receives £300,000 a year from government funding. The charity has also seen a 20% reduction in corporate funding which has led to nursing staff having to reduce their hours.
