Female pensioner dies after being hit by car in Woodchurch Road, Prenton

AN elderly woman was killed and her husband injured when they were struck by a car in Woodchurch Road, Prenton, near Osmaston Road on Monday afternoon.
The silver Volvo estate V70 was travelling towards the M53.
The 85-year-old woman was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where she died from her injuries. Her husband, aged 93, suffered head injuries and was also taken to hospital.
The driver stopped at the scene and was treated for shock.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 777 5771.
