LAST week's by-election in Wythenshawe and Sale East saw the people of Manchester renew their trust in Labour to stand up for hard working people following the death of Paul Goggins.
The by-election also gave a clear indication that the public are starting to see through Ukip and their dangerous policies.
Ordinarily people have used Ukip as a protest vote to express their fears about the standstill economy of the last four years, but behind the rhetoric Ukip are just as bad as the Tories.
Indeed David Cameron has made it clear that Ukip was the only party that his government would listen to, while Ukip leader Nigel Farage is on record as saying he's the only politician keeping Thatcherism alive.
Although quite how he can say this when David Cameron has already privatised £1.5bn of NHS services to Tory party donors just shows how out of touch both Cameron and Farage are with people's values.
Now the millionaire stockbroker Farage has admitted that he thinks women are worth less than men and he can justify paying women lower wages than men for the same work.
Ukip also want to legalise handguns, which the last Labour government outlawed in 1997 after a lone gunman entered Dunblane primary school and shot 16 children and their teacher dead.
Neither the Tories or their Ukip allies have the right policies to deal with the issues facing Britain. As people face the toughest cost of living crisis in living memory, with living standards and wages lower now than in 2010, neither are coming up with the right solutions.
Only Labour will stand up for people struggling to pay the bills at the end of the month with practical steps such as freezing electricity bills, providing free extra child care and campaigning for fairer pay for all. Ukip are no opposition.
It is only Labour who will stand up for you.
