COUNCILLORS will meet this week to review a decision by Wirral’s ruling cabinet to consult on the controversial move to close a special school.
It follows the decision by the authority’s ruling cabinet to approve plans by education chiefs for a three month consultation on closing down The Lyndale School, in Eastham.
Education chiefs say the school has too few pupils and is not economically viable.
Tories have joined with the Liberal Democrats to try to block the plans, and this latest stage in the process will be heard at 6pm on Wednesday at Wallasey Town Hall.
Eastham councillor Tom Harney said: “We are delighted to give the parents and the rest of the school community the opportunity to present the case for the provision at the Lyndale School to continue.”
