TWO Wirral schools and some council buildings have closed due to a burst water main.
United Utilities said the problem has been affecting homes and businesses around the Pasture Road and Hoylake Road area of Moreton.
However, the company said it was unable to be clear how many homes have been without water, but said it should be resolved by late morning.
However, while engineers carry out repairs Eastway Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School have had to shut.
Both schools will now be open from 1pm.
A statement on Sacred Heart school's website said: "Due to a burst water main school has been left without water or heating."
Also closed are Moreton Family Centre and Eastway Children's Centre.
A United Utilities spokesman said the problem had been a valve which should open at peak times which had failed to work properly.
The company became aware of the problem around 8am and began diverting water supplies around the valve, as work to repair it got underway.
The spokesman apologised for the incovenience, but said: "We are confident the problem is being resolved right now."
