A COLLECTION of paintings by Merseyside artist George Jardine sold for a total of £3,120 at auction.
A total of seven artworks went under the hammer at the Bonhams Chester saleroom earlier this week, with a guide price of between £300 and £700 for each.
The top price was £1,250 for the painting Solitude, which went to a private collector, followed by £550 for The Golden Egg.
Royal College of Art- trained artist Jardine was born in 1920 and lived in Wallasey until his death in 2002.
He was greatly influenced by the Surrealist movement of the 1930s, developing a unique style drawing on the female nude, natural creatures and landscapes to create a highly personal vision of the world.
