Five Mersey branches of Dreams face doubts over future

THE future of five Mersey branches of bed retailer Dreams was still in the balance today after the recession-hit group went into administration.

More than 1,600 jobs at the company were saved as its head office, factories and 171 stores were immediately bought out of administration by Sun Capital Partners.

But administrator Ernst & Young was still hunting a buyer for the remaining 95 shops, including those in Aintree, Edge Lane, Runcorn, Southport and Warrington’s Riverside Retail Park. Those five stores employ 19 people between them.

Dreams branches in Bromborough, St Helens and Chester and its clearance store in Warrington, were transferred to the new Sun Capital business.

E&Y said Sun Capital, which already owns sofa chain SCS Upholstery, will honour warranties.

Orders where part- payment deposits were made for goods will be met.
