FIVE people and two dogs were rescued after being caught by the incoming tide at one of Merseyside’s beauty spots.
A member of the public called the coastguard after spotting the group, including two adults and three children, on the Hilbre islands, off Wirral’s coast.
They had been to Little Eye island yesterday and appeared to be in difficulty at around 1.20pm. He said: “A member of the public on the shore called to say they could see five people stranded on Little Eye.”
A spokesman for the coastguard said the RNLI lifeboat crew based at West Kirby had responded to the call and brought them back.
