THE sale of a major Merseyside bus operator is being investigated to make sure services will not be hit.
Stagecoach – which operates services in Liverpool – completed a deal to buy FirstGroup’s Wirral operation for £4.5m.
The deal covered Birkenhead, Chester and Wrexham services.
The Office for Fair Trading is now examining whether the deal “could lead to a substantial lessening of competition” for passengers, resulting in reduced services, higher fares or lower quality.
Concerned passengers can contact the OFT before March 1 by writing to Peter Swan, Office of Fair Trading, Fleetbank House, 2-6 Salisbury Square, London EC4Y 8JX or emailing email@example.com.
