THIS year’s Wirral Open Studio Tour is back, with organisers calling on artists across the peninsula to get involved.
Preparations are underway to organise the event after it was cancelled last year due to insufficient resources.
The successful art trail is an ideal opportunity for professional artists to open their doors and allow the public to visit their workshops and display spaces.
The tour will take place on the weekend of June 15 and 16.
Organising the event is a group of six, who work on the tour voluntarily.
Artists are urged to register and join the art trail before February 28.
Committee member Dennis Spicer said: “We have been getting lots of applications in already, so we hope to have a good turnout of artists and craftsmen showcasing their work in studios and homes to the public. We want the tour to cover the whole of Wirral and reach out to more places that haven’t been involved in previous events. Hopefully artists from all areas will get involved, as it is a great opportunity to sell their work too.”
The tour began life in 2009 as Artists In Our Midst, based around Hoylake and Meols. It was such a success that artists further afield requested to join and it expanded to other parts of the borough in 2010.
Artists can register online by February 28 at www.wirralart.com. A fee of £45 covers production of brochures, publicity and website costs.
