ANIMAL lover Paul O’Grady was today looking for a new breed of hero as he prepares to host an awards show for ITV.
The British Animal Honours 2013 will celebrate the achievements of extraordinary animals and the people who work with them.
Show bosses said it was inspired by the UK’s “unwavering love and connection with animals”.
The one-off special will be filmed in front of a live audience on Tuesday, April 16.
The British Animal Honours 2013 – described as “the people’s animal champions” – will be decided by an expert jury. But the furry stars will be nominated by members of the public whose lives have been touched by these special creatures.
Birkenhead-born Paul O’Grady picked up a National Television Award for best Factual Entertainment programme for his hit ITV1 series For the Love of Dogs, which was filmed at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
People were today being asked to put forward their nominations before Sunday, February 24.
