A GROUP of fundraisers have signed up to shift the post-Christmas pounds in an effort to raise funds for the Friends of Birkenhead Council Kennels.

Trustee and Treasurer for the charity, Vikki Ogilvie decided she would raise money by losing weight.
Vikki said: "I’m always looking for new ways to raise funds for the pound, and everyone always needs to lose a bit of weight after Christmas, so I thought it would be great if we could get a group together and give £1 for every lb that we lost."
Friends of Birkenhead Council Kennels, or FOBCK, was established three years ago to raise funds for the improvement of Birkenhead’s council kennels, which is one of only six kennels across the country that takes in stray dogs.
Vikki and 13 other fundraisers have signed up to lose weight in aid of the kennels and plan to donate £1 for every lb that they lose.
Vikki added: "Everyone is doing really well, the fact that it is in aid of the kennels makes it easier to stay on track-although I am still a way off my target weight.
"It’s been a great success; so far we’re raising about £30 a week."
