Neston fundraisers plough ahead with Valentine's Day charity lunch

LOVE is in the air for a group of fundraisers from Neston that are asking the community to join them for a Valentine’s Day themed lunch to raise funds for a local cancer charity.

On February 14 the Neston and Parkgate Committee of North West Cancer Research (NWCR) is inviting guests to enjoy the bi-annual Ploughman’s Lunch, which has been running for over 30 years.

One hundred guests are expected to attend the Valentine’s themed event and enjoy a selection of cheeses, fresh bread and salads.

As well as enjoying the traditional lunch guests can enjoy bring and buy stalls. There will also be a raffle that includes a top prize donated by Liverpool ONE, a £50 voucher to spend at the shopping and leisure destination.

North West Cancer Research Incorporating Clatterbridge Cancer Research is made up of a merger between North West Cancer Research Fund and Clatterbridge Cancer Research.

Sheila Gill, Chair of the Neston and Parkgate Committee said: "Our Ploughman’s Lunches get more and more popular every year and we’re very thankful for the support of those who come. We’d also like to thank Liverpool ONE for their donation and we’re hopeful that love will be in the air during the afternoon and we raise a lot of money for the charity."

Anne Jackson, Chief Executive of NWCR said: "I cannot thank the Neston and Parkgate committee enough for their tireless efforts. Given the local incidence of cancer it is critical that that the North West remains at the forefront of cancer research. We rely heavily on the dedication and generosity of our committees and events like this ever-popular lunch helps contribute to our fundraising total."

The Ploughman’s Lunch will be held at Civic Hall, Hinderton Road, Neston, Merseyside CH64 9PE on Thursday February 14 from 12pm – 2pm. Entrance is £3.50 on the door, which includes a Ploughman’s Lunch. Light refreshments are also available.
