The ‘Mums in Business’ events, which allow like-minded working women to talk business and support each other professionally and socially, have proved so successful in Liverpool that Kirwans have created a new series of events in Wirral.

The group, which holds its events during lunchtime in order to make them more accessible to mums, is the brainchild of solicitor Claire Currie, Partner at law firm Kirwans, which has offices across the region.

Claire, who has a three-year-old son, says family commitments can mean women miss out on valuable business opportunities

She said: “Whilst I was on maternity leave, I attended various mums’ groups and met some great people who were also professionals. Traditional networking groups meet either early in the morning or after work which can often conflict with the commitments of family life.

“The Mums in Business group meets in the middle of the day and has developed into a warm friendly group where everyone is welcomed.

“As mums, we understand the pressures of professional versus family life, and it can be challenging to achieve the right balance. It is clear that members find value in not only having the opportunity to make new business connections but to also speak with like-minded women.”

The first Wirral Mums in Business event will take place on Thursday, January 24 between 12 midday and 2pm at The Wro in West Kirkby.

The event will welcome guest speakers Clare Ellison and Mary Murtagh.. Family lawyer Clare will discuss the legal issues of  protecting your business as an asset in the event of a divorce, while award-winning journalist Mary Murtagh will advise on the methods to promoting a successful business.

There will be networking opportunities before and after the presentations, and refreshments will be on offer.
