Two men taken to hospital after violent disturbance in Birkenhead
TWO men were taken to hospital with injuries after violence erupted on a Merseyside street.
The disturbance broke out in Argyle Street in Birkenhead during the early hours of December 27.
Emergency crews found one man bleeding and unconscious on the ground and another man with a cut to his hand.
Police cordoned off an area of pavement in the road to allow for forensic examinations to be carried out. It is understood the incident had happened at around 6.30am.
Police officers were examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses in the area to establish the full circumstances of what actually happened.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: “Officers are investigating an incident in Argyle Street, Birkenhead, after emergency services were called to reports of a disturbance.
“On arrival officers found a 29-year-old man with facial injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition is not thought to be serious.
“A second man is also being treated for a cut to his hand.
“Officers would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: “We attended the scene at around 6.30am and found two males, one had head injuries and was bleeding and was unconscious, another had a nasty cut to his hand.
“We took them both to Arrowe Park hospital.”
