BUS stop will be reintroduced outside one of Merseyside’s busiest railway stations.
Merseytravel said it hoped the plan for Hamilton Square station, in Birkenhead, would make it easier for passengers to move from one form of public transport to the other.
Hamilton Street will be widened so buses can stop right outside the station.
Merseytravel will pay for the changes with money from a successful bid to the government’s Better Bus Fund.
Merseytravel chairman Liam Robinson said: “The Hamilton Street work is due for completion early next year and should help make bus travel in Wirral more attractive, with all the benefits this brings in terms of less traffic congestion.”
Buses travelling to Woodside were taken out of Hamilton Street more than 10 years ago.
