NEIGHBOURHOOD projects which had their council funding frozen will be given a £330,000 boost.
The cash will go to support community and voluntary group projects across 11 neighbourhood forums in Wirral.
The move was welcomed by Tory leader Jeff Green who said it was a “U-turn” by the ruling Labour group after pressure from his party when Labour froze what they called “non essential spending”.
But council leader Cllr Phil Davies, said despite the Coalition Government’s budget cuts his group have been able to release this money to support local communities.
He said: “While the money released last night – which equals £30,000 for each forum – will be allocated to those bids already received by the council, particular emphasis has been placed on ensuring the grant is used to assist those most vulnerable and in need.”
