RESIDENTS in North Wales were today recovering from the “heartbreaking” damage of flooding as an elderly woman was found dead in a water-ravaged house.
Firefighters from West Kirby and Heswall came to the aid of residents in St Asaph who faced water levels chest high.
Rain eased overnight but additional relief crews from Merseyside were on the scene from 10am today.
About 500 people in St Asaph, which has a population of around 3,400, were encouraged to pack their bags yesterday and move in with friends or family until the risk subsided.
St Asaph leisure centre was transformed into an evacuation base.
