WIRRAL Grammar School for Boys pupils proved their head for business by coming top in a competition.
At a ceremony at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight, on Monday boys from the school were awarded the Best of the Best prize at the Wirral Schools Business Development Initiative. The group won the award after making the most profit over the six months long competition.
The event raised funds for the Park Suites Foundation at Arrowe Park Hospital and individual school funds. Each school was given £500 and challenged to increase it as much as possible.
Schools set up their own businesses with students appointed as managing directors and financial directors.
The Wirral Grammar School for Boys made a profit of £1,294. The initiative as a whole generated in excess of £5,000 profit.
The chairman of the Park Suites Foundation, Terry Smith, said the initiative, backed by the News, had been a huge success and would be repeated. He said: “The enthusiasm from schools and teachers has been fantastic.”
