Hannah Windsor's killer Adam Lewis admits murder in last-minute change of plea

BIRKENHEAD teenager Adam Lewis has admitted murdering his girlfriend Hannah Windsor whose body was found at a Wirral beauty spot.

Lewis, 18, was today due to stand trial over the killing of Hannah Windsor, who was found stabbed and strangled near to Bidston Hill observatory in May.

But he changed his plea to guilty at the last minute after previously claiming manslaughter.

Lewis, who is currently on remand at HMP Altcourse, also admitted two counts of sexual assaulting the Birkenhead college student, 17, which he had previously denied.

He earlier pleaded guilty to a burglary, carried out a few days before the other alleged crimes.

He admitted that he broke into the home of Richard Jones, in Orchard Road, Moreton, and stole jewellery, a wallet, an Xbox 360 and a Wii games console.

Lewis, of Fairmead Road, Moreton, also pleaded guilty to a charge of committing arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered at Mr Jones’s home, which is believed to be the address of Hannah Windsor’s sister.

Lewis is expected to be sentenced tomorrow.

He is thought to have been living rough in the Bidston area in the time leading up to the killing, which is alleged to have happened between May 15 and May 20.

Friends of Hannah, who was a student at Wirral Metropolitan College, have said that she was in a relationship with Lewis but that she had ‘kept it quiet’.
