Artists invited to showcase work in Christmas themed exhibition

ARTISTS are invited to showcase their work in a festive Christmas-themed exhibition.

Birkenhead’s Rathbone Studio is hosting Advent in Art exhibition for local artists of all talents to display their work.

Two pieces which have been inspired by Christmas can be submitted to the show.

Ceramic artist, Janet Holmes, who opened the studio earlier this year, said: “Christmas means so many things to us all.

“Throughout history, including the magical illustrations in Charles Dickens’s Christmas books, artists have celebrated the spirit of this festive season on canvas.

“This open exhibition invites artist to submit up to two pieces inspired by Christmas and what it means to them.

“It may mean tinsel and snow scenes, turkey and mulled wine, visions of the nativity and loved ones far away at war, or the comfort of family and friends.

“Who knows how controversial this exhibition will be.”

Anyone interested in displaying their work can enquire by popping in to the Argyle Street studio or visit www.rathbonestudio.com

The exhibition will be held from December 1 to January 5.

Opening times, Tuesday to Saturday 3pm-6pm. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
