MERSEYRAIL commuters faced morning rush-hour misery today after widespread disruption on the Wirral Line.
Severe delays and cancellations were blamed on a track fault between Hamilton Square and James Street stations, and a failed train at Rock Ferry.
There were delays of up to 15 minutes between Chester and Liverpool Central, between West Kirby and Liverpool Central and between Ellesmere Port and Liverpool Central.
A Merseyrail spokeswoman said a total of eight trains were cancelled, while many others ran a reduced route.
Services were running normally again by 9.30am.
