AN inquest opened into the death of a man found dead at his home in Wirral.
The body of Michael Rawnsley, 33, was discovered in a house in Bradmoor Road, Bromborough, on Tuesday.
Wirral Coroners’ Court heard Mr Rawnsley, who was said to have a history of binge drinking, had sustained a head injury after falling off a sofa.
Coroner’s officer Lea Cripps said: “Despite the fact that the wound on his head was bleeding profusely he had steadfastly refused to attend hospital or seek medical advice.”
The inquest heard friends had decided to leave Mr Rawnsley, who was unemployed, on the sofa to “sleep off the effects of the alcohol”.
He was found unresponsive the next morning and was pronounced dead by paramedics just after 9.30am.
The hearing was told three men were arrested after the discovery of Mr Rawnsley’s body but police were now satisfied that there were no suspicious circumstances.
Wirral Coroner Christopher Johnson adjourned the inquest until December 20.
