Entries for Wirral Chick Run for Clatterbridge Cancer Research already well up on last year

A SURGE of registrations for Clatterbridge Cancer Research’s April 22 ‘Chick Run’ has outstripped last year’s entry levels prompting organisers to urge participants to sign up early.

The 5k fun run, in association with Wirral News, will see hundreds of fundraisers dressed as fluffy yellow chicks completing the course at Birkenhead Park.

Clatterbridge Cancer Research director, Jo Parry, said: “We would ask people to continue to register early so that we can uplift our marshalling arrangements to cope. The response from Wirral News readers has been terrific and we’re hoping entries will continue to rise sharply.”

She added: “You don’t have to be a runner to take part in the Chick Run – we are happy for people to join in and stroll around the course. Last year we welcomed families with little ones in buggies and a significant number of dog walkers who all made valuable contributions to the fun on the day and to the money raised. Children under five go free and but are asked to decide on – and bring – their own form of fancy dress so, while we’ll have a river of yellow chicks on the run, we’re also looking forward to seeing a number of small princesses, fairies and super heroes.”

To find out more or to register go to www.chickrun.org or call 0151 343 4300. All runners will get a chick costume when they register.
