A BRANCH of the Royal British Legion has organised a shoe box appeal to give to troops going out to Afghanistan.
The Heswall branch is putting together boxes of goodies for The Royal Welsh, which is waiting to be sent in March.
Jeff Evans, from Heswall’s RBL, said the boxes would contain items like toiletries, razors, wet wipes and toothbrushes, which can help keep up morale.
He said: “The Royal Welsh are off to Afghanistan for about six months and these show boxes contain little treats for them.
“When they are feeling down or homesick, they can open their shoebox as a pick-me-up.”
The branch wants the public to help them with their appeal by donating money or items such as soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, roll-on deodorant, reading materials such as puzzle books, magazines or books, writing materials, stationery and snacks like hard-boiled sweets and salted peanuts.
People are asked not to donate anything perishable.
As well as items, the boxes will also contain a personal greetings card showing support to troops on the frontline.
Drop off your donation at the Heswall Royal British Legion Club in Pensby Road.
