Hall of fame showing celebrity visitors to Wirral opens at the Light Cinema in New Brighton

A STAR-STUDDED hall of fame showing celebrity visitors to Wirral over the years opened at New Brighton’s new cinema.

The evocative black and white pictures by late Wallasey press photographer Bob Bird are on display at the Light Cinema.

The photos show famous faces including Cilla Black, Shirley Bassey, Tommy Cooper, Norman Wisdom, Hughie Green, Mae West and music hall artist Old Mother Riley.

Wallasey businesswoman Roz Tranfield is also pictured during her beauty queen days.

Among the guests at the opening of the hall of fame on Thursday was Bob Owen, of Wallasey.

He is pictured meeting Little Richard at the Plaza, Birkenhead in 1964.
