A POSTER created by a Wallasey man has been given a ticket to ride after winning Merseytravel’s ‘Art on the Network’ competition.
David Williams from Wallasey produced the poster “Discover Liverpool” and scooped the Attractions and Days Out category prize.
The 24-year-old won £500 and a commemorative copy of a Merseytravel publication featuring his winning entry.
His art will be blazoned around the train network.
This is the third annual Art on the Network competition, focussing on poster art. Two winners, from Skelmersdale and Hale Village, won the other two categories – Modes of Transport and Information category.
David said: “I decided to design a clear and bold picture of the two cathedrals with the university building in the foreground of the picture.
I felt perhaps that tourists may not be aware of just how many spectacular buildings Liverpool has to offer.
“The design was made on my computer at home and took about a week to complete.”
Jim Barclay, from Merseytravel, added: “We had some highly creative entries and we are delighted that the winning submissions will be seen by thousands of people as they travel across the network.”
This year’s Art on the Network competition will be launched in April, further details can be found at www.merseytravel.gov.uk and www.artonthenetwork.co.uk
