Wirral community groups tree-mendous Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration

A COMMUNITY group in Wirral is planning a tree-mendous celebration for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Friends of Birkenhead are planting free trees from the Woodland Trust to mark the historic occasion.

The planting will take place at the Edward Kemp Community Garden and Growing Area.

Site Co-ordinator, Sheila Blair said: “The Edward Kemp Community Garden and Growing Area is very much under development and tree planting is a fantastic and fun way for us to do something lasting in our local area.”

The Woodland Trust’s Jubilee Woods Project aims to plant one million trees in one month to mark 60 years since The Queen’s accession to the throne.

The tree planting event will take place at the Edward Kemp Community Garden and Growing Area, Ashville Road, Birkenhead, on Monday, February 6, 11am.
