Kittens found dumped in a sealed box near Bidston train station

A CRUEL owner dumped two kittens in a sealed cardboard box near a train station.

Children found the cats on a nature reserve close to Bidston station last Monday.

The RSPCA is investigating and is appealing for witnesses or anyone who recognises the kittens to come forward.

RSPCA Inspector Anthony Joynes said: “There really is no excuse under any circumstances to dump young cats like this, leaving them exposed to attack from dogs not to mention being left with no food, water or adequate shelter.

“There is lots of help out there for people struggling to cope with their pets.

“RSPCA centres nationwide are full of unwanted cats and kittens and this may be a result of irresponsible breeding – which would easily be avoided by having cats neutered.”

He said abandoning animals was a serious offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the owner of the kittens could face up to six months in prison or a £20,000 fine.

Anyone with any information should call the RSPCA’s cruelty line on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for Inspector Anthony Joynes.
