Great green days out in Wirral

WIRRAL Environmental Network is setting up a network of all groups involved in growing local fruit and veg – this includes ones already up and running and people who want to get started and need a bit of help.

They have organised two morning events for anyone interested to go along and meet fellow growers – Thursday, February 9 from 10am-1 pm and Saturday February 11, 10am-1 pm.

They will provide all groups with a growers starter pack – which will include potatoes, onions, shallots, and a variety of seeds to get you going, all for free.

To help the team organise this event please indicate which day you would prefer and how many of your group will be attending (up to three per group) – please contact Kenny on 639 2121 or 07876726747 or email kenny@la21.net.

The event will be held at Wirral Environmental Network, Sandon Building , Falkland Rd, Wallasey, CH44 8ER.

TV wildlife favourite Chris Packham will kick off a year of celebrations for the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

The face of BBC Springwatch and Autumnwatch live series, photographer and filmmaker Chris is the first of a host of TV naturalists visiting the North West in 2012 as part of the Trust’s bicentenary. Chris will be appearing at Chester Racecourse on Thursday March 29 at 7.30pm.

Other guests include Simon King OBE, who will join the charity in September, after becoming the Wildlife Trust’s latest UK president last year. To book see www.cheshirewildlifetrust.org.uk.
