Anti-violence competition

A COMPETITION to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King was officially launched in Wirral.

The Universal Youth Support Service are giving youngsters a chance to act out the famous civil rights leader’s “The Weakness of Violence” speech and re-shape it for modern day residents in Wirral.

Entries for the competition are encouraged to be as creative as possible, whether it is a short poem or message, or even more dynamic ideas such as raps or pieces of artworks are all acceptable. Pieces will be judged that carry messages which are the most meanigful, relevant and sensitive for young people in Wirral.

The lucky winner may also have the opportunity to have their winning entry used for promoting non-violence in region’s youth settings and could be enhanced visually for a wider audience to view outside of the region.

The competition closes on Tuesday January 31. Entries are to be submitted to your local youth worker, or alternatively, they can be sent to Gill Marchant of Youth and Play, at Solar Campus, 235 Leasowe Road, CH45 8RE.

Winners will also recieve a £30 voucher for HMV.
