Wirral mum suffers hair-raising moment for Help for Heroes

A WIRRAL mum suffered a hair-raising moment when all her locks were shaved off for Help for Heroes.

Plucky Nikki Haslem went from Rapunzel to GI Jane when her waist length hair was cut off.

The 40-year-old Riverside employee, based at the social housing’s Birkenhead office, has so far raised nearly £1,000 for the nation’s heroes.

Nikki said: “My son joined the RAF Regiment in March this year and I promised him I would have my head shaved to raise cash for Help for Heroes if he passed his training. And he’s held me to my word.”

Nikki is also donating her 16 inch pony tail to Little Princess’s Trust, which makes wigs for child cancer victims who have lost their hair.

She added: “It’s going to take some getting used to, but it will grow back. It’s the least I can do to help our heroes overseas.”
