TRANMERE Rovers players have signed up for a moustache growing challenge to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
The majority of the club’s first team squad will join men across the world by taking part in men’s health charity event called Movember.
Participants – dubbed Mo Bros – are sponsored to grow a moustache during the month of November.
Players are promising to coax coaching staff into growing their own moustaches – but there’s no word on whether manager Les Parry will join them.
Rovers captain John Welsh said: “The lads can’t wait to start growing their moustaches.
“We want to do our bit to raise awareness of a very important issue for men and hopefully we can raise some much-needed money for charity as well.
“There’s already a few in the squad with stubble or beards, including myself, so they’ll have to be shaved off before the start of the month.
“We’ve had a look at the style guide on the Movember website so it will be interesting to see who comes in with a trucker, who grows a regent and who struggles to grow one at all!
“We’ll have to see if we can talk the coaching staff into growing them as well and if any of the fans want to join us too, that would be great.”
The club’s website www. tranmererovers.co.uk will update supporters on the players’ progress at moustache growing and fundraising throughout the month.
