BONFIRE NIGHT: Safety warning and full list of organised firework displays around Wirral

DAZZLING displays of fireworks to mark Bonfire Night will light up the skies above Wirral this week.

Eight free displays approved by Wirral Council are taking place on Saturday night and there are also organised events in Meols, Burton, Hoylake and West Kirby.

Wirral Council, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire Service are asking members of the public to ensure they don’t leave potentially flammable material lying around – and parents are being urged to play their part by taking responsibility for their children’s whereabouts.

Police and trading standards will also be tackling the sale of illegal fireworks and sales to children.

Unauthorised bonfires should be reported to 0800 731 5958.

HOYLAKE SAILING CLUB will be holding their annual bonfire on the beach with fireworks on Friday, November 4, starting at 6.15pm. Admission is free but there will be a collection by Hoylake RNLI towards a new rescue boat.

Upton Park, Moreton

Lingham Park, Moreton

Birkenhead Park, Birkenhead

Woodchurch Community Centre, Woodchurch

Central Park, Wallasey

In addition to the fireworks, at Leasowe only there is a community bonfire.

All start at 6.30pm. Admission is free.

WEST KIRBY SAILING CLUB is holding a bonfire and firework display from 5.30pm on Saturday, November 5. Admission is free but there will be a collection in aid of West Kirby RNLI. Food, lifeboat souvenirs, and Christmas cards will be on sale in the clubhouse.

A BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS DISPLAY will take place on the sports field behind Gladstone Village Hall, Burton, on Saturday, November 5.

The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm, followed by fireworks at 7pm.

Admission is £4 for adults and children over 11, £3 for five to 11-year-olds and free for under-fives. Sparklers are not permitted and everyone attending is asked to bring a torch.

THE FRIENDS OF MEOLS PARK are presenting their third annual Fun & Fireworks event in Meols Park on Sunday, November 6.

The fun starts at 12noon with family fairground rides and stalls. Incredible Edible Hoylake will serve pumpkin soup while stocks last.

The firework display will start at around 6pm, depending on the weather.

Although admission is free, the community group says donations would be much appreciated.

Meols Park is on Dovepoint Road, near the Railway Inn.
