EXOTIC contemporary textiles and embroidery with a spice theme is to be showcased at an art group’s first exhibition.
Only one-year-old, ConText is a group of 11 contemporary textile and embroidery artists who make textile wall-art, three dimensional objects, jewellery and other items.
To celebrate their first anniversary they are holding an exhibition. Each item created is unique and hand-crafted, conjured by the idea of ‘spice’.
The work will be on display starting tomorrow, Friday October 28 until November 18 at Cetra gallery on Pensby Road, Heswall.Š
Following on from this, the group will exhibit on December 1 to January 6 at the Williamson Art Gallery on Slatey Road, Birkenhead, with the theme ‘Sugar and Spice and All things Nice’.
ConText meet fortnightly at Neston Youth and Community Centre.
The group was started by a few members who met while studying Creative Textile Embroidery.
Many group members belong to Wirral Embroiderer’s Guild which meets every third Thursday from 7pm at Williamson Art Gallery.
