Wirral teenagers complete charity bike ride

FOUR teenagers endured a 900-mile trip to school to raise charity cash.

Tom Roden, Joe Hillyer and William Lamm, all 18, and 19-year-old Tom Harrison, biked from Hamburg in Germany to Birkenhead School, Wirral, where the ex-pupils received a rapturous welcome.

They covered more than 900 miles on their cross continental pedal and raised more than £2,000 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

John Clark, headmaster of the Oxton school, praised the boys for being good role models for other young people.

He said: “What a welcome contrast to the August headlines: here are four young people with the initiative to look for a worthwhile challenge, the resilience to see it through and the desire to make a positive difference.”
