WOODSIDE Ferry Terminal will become a hotbed of arts and crafts this weekend for the very first Art by the Ferry event.
Merseytravel has joined forces with Open Culture to deliver the project, which will feature some of the region’s finest creatives against a backdrop of one of the finest views in Merseyside.
Open Culture organiser Christina Grogan told Wirral Arts: “We’re trying to bring the ferry terminal to life.
“It’s a great day for the family and also an outlet for artists and creatives.
“There’s a lot going on in Wirral and it’s really nice to pull that together.
“If it’s a success, we can build on it and make it more regular.”
On both Saturday and Sunday, the grade II listed terminal will be transformed to offer a wide variety of locally produced arts and crafts.
Artists featuring include Jane Adams, Charmione Lloyd, Chris Gregory and Sarah McGrath.
Live music will also be on hand from the Grand National chorus between noon and 2pm on Saturday, and Liverpool accordionist Helen Maher performs live on both days between 1pm and 3pm.
Merseytravel public art officer, Emma Lawrence, said: “We want families to come to Woodside and discover the fantastic array of activities on offer.
“It’ll be a great day out with something to appeal to all ages.
“Woodside has also got one of the best views of the River Mersey and Liverpool waterfront.”
Art on the Ferry takes place at Woodside Ferry Terminal, Birkenhead, between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21. Entry is free.
