Woman hit by train in Hoylake dies

A WOMAN died after being hit by a train in Wirral  today.

The woman, in her 50s, who was struck by the train at the Melrose crossing close to Manor Road station, in Hoylake, at 6.50am, was alive when paramedics reached her.

She was taken to Arrowe Park hospital for treatment for a suspected heart attack, but was later pronounced dead.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious, and were working to establish the victim’s identity.

Trains were suspended for an hour, with a replacement bus operating on the West Kirby line.
