West Kirby Grammar School stages its own Royal Wedding party ahead of William and Kate’s big day

ROYAL wedding fever hit a Wirral school last week – and one pupil is celebrating being invited to London for the big day.

Staff and students at West Kirby Grammar School celebrated the last day of term on Friday by staging their own Royal Wedding party.

Displays of wedding gowns through the decades took pride of place in the school hall while design students even created their own versions of what they thought a Royal Wedding gown should look like.

Sixth form students organised their version of a Royal garden party and school cooks gave guests a taste of what to expect on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day with a special themed lunch menu.

There was also a wedding cake created by members of staff to tempt all year groups.

Sarah Smith, 16, will be part of an official young person’s Guard of Honour to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

She will represent the North West region of the Girls Brigade and line the route the couple will take from Westminster Abbey after the wedding ceremony.
