WIRRAL International Film Festival (WIFF) returns for a fourth year in September – and organisers want your films submitted.
WIFF, the brainchild of Wirral film-makers Alan Veste and Phil Bimpson, moved to a new, bigger location last year, switched the programme to evening showings and further strengthened links with the peninsula’s twin town, Latina.
Alan and Phil travelled there last week, to present awards to the Italian winners of WIFF 2010.
They will be returning in August to enter all the English winners’ films in the Documenta Film Fest 2011, held in Sezze, Italy.
Alan told the News: “We’re really excited about WIFF 2011. Every year it’s improving, it’s getting better and we’re getting more interest, especially from abroad. And with Latina Film Commission supporting us it’s getting more and more exciting.”
Film-makers can enter efforts covering a broad range of genres, whether documentary, short film, music video, animation or feature. There is also a category for under 16s.
Alan says they’re particularly interested in increasing the number of feature length films.
WIFF 2011 will stay in its new home at the TA Centre in Oxton, and show films every night for a week between Monday September 12 and Saturday September 17. Entry is free for all, whether you’re submitting a film or just heading down to catch the action.
WIFF 2011 is also seeking award sponsors.
