Wirral Arts: ‘Pop up’ art show at Thornton Hall Hotel

THE founder of former Parkgate gallery, Artroom is bringing a new ‘pop-up’ venture to Thornton Hall Hotel.

Michelle Linger says her new vehicle for emerging and established artists is “unique, different and quirky”.

She said: “I take temporary locations round the country, but the artists stay with me.

“A lot of their work is based on memories and subjects personal to them.”

The art history graduate, who has over 30 years experience, has chosen the Oak Room at the Thornton Hall Hotel to display a “spectacular new selection of contemporary, original paintings of quality and value”.

And some of Wirral’s finest artists are among those travelling.

Kathy Little, a tutor at Wirral Met, will be showing acrylic paintings of the River Dee.

She is joined by abstract artists Jacqui Chapman, Nigel Morris, Jenny Ryrie and Heswall’s Margaret Ransome, while work by established national artist Margaret Ransome will also be display.

Joining the tour at Thornton Hall Hotel is semi-abstract landscape artist, Erin Ward.

Inspired by visits to coastal regions, Erin draws heavily on her studies of the Dee Estuary.

She said: “I love the areas where the sea meets the land, and rivers where saltwater meets fresh water.

“A fascination of opposites, hard rock against water, the meeting of two extremes, yet it’s light and space which play the important part in my work.”
