Wellwishers flock aboard HMS Campbeltown
CROWDS of well-wishers flocked to Liverpool’s cruise liner terminal to get a last glimpse inside Cammell Laird warship HMS Campbeltown.
The Type-22 frigate threw open her doors as she made a swan song tour of the UK before being decommissioned in April.
While in Merseyside she played host to trainee hairdressers from Wirral Metropolitan College who put their new skills to use on the warship’s crew.
The unusual collaboration is due to a working relationship between Commodore Dickie Baum, Naval Regional Commander North of England and the Isle of Man, who served in the navy with college principal Mike Potter, himself a former naval Commodore.
Also invited onboard were sea cadet units from Wallasey, Skelmersdale and Wigan.
