Dance music festival planned for Wirral

MORE than 10,000 people could be visiting a dance music festival in Wirral later this year.

The Hudbu Festival is planned for the Memorial Fields in Clatterbridge, and advance tickets for camping over the weekend of the event have already gone on sale.

Bands lined up to appear so far include The Japanese Popstars, Popof and Shlomi Aber, plus others, and the organisers say more will be announced in the coming months.

Hudbu director Jai Byron said he hoped the dance music festival would boost the local economy, and they are in discussions with the council and police about preparing for the weekend festival to be held over September 24 and 25.

He said: “We are going for acts we wanted to see from other festivals.”

He said they aim for the event to carry on into future years.

Cllr Sue Taylor, licensing chair for Wirral Council, said: “We are aware of the organisers’ ambitions to stage this festival.

“The staging of an event such as this would be subject to organisers being granted the necessary licence.

“To date, however, we have yet to receive a formal application for that licence.”
