Birdwatch at Kings Gap and Merseytravel selected as best practice for sustainable development

ON SATURDAY join the Wirral rangers for a Birdwatch at Kings Gap in Hoylake.

Running from 9.30am-12pm it’s a great chance to meet the team from the RSPB and watch the wild birds as they roost and feed on the incoming tide.

Warm clothing and suitable footwear are essential. It’s free and there’s no need to book.

For further enquiries call 0151 648 4371 or emailwirralcountrypark@wirral.gov.uk.

Meet at Hoylake Beach, Kings Gap, Hoylake, Wirral, CH47 1JA.

MERSEYTRAVEL has been selected as best practice for sustainable development by Sustainablegov.co.uk a leading sustainability organisation.

Merseytravel were recognised for their cradle to grave approach to new developments. Their developments were described by Sustainablegov.co.uk as being, “designed from the very outset, to use energy and resources conservatively (including reuse and recycling), to embrace the use of renewables and to maximise the amount of materials that can be recycled at the end of their useful life.”

All new Merseytravel developments are assessed against the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (Breeam) and it is Merseytravel policy for a building to achieve a Breeam rating of at least ‘Very Good’.

Three sites in particular were highlighted including the new headquarters building at Mann Island, Pier Head building and Liverpool South Parkway Interchange.
