Woman's Hour presenter helps West Kirby Grammar students fine tune their broadcasting skills

BBC Radio Four presenter Sheila McClennon has been helping students at West Kirby Grammar School fine tune their broadcasting skills.

Sheila, who can be heard regularly on Womans Hour, was one of a dozen businesswomen involved in the schools Options Outlook Conference, designed to give young people greater understanding of different career roles.

A former West Kirby student, Sheila from Meols joined other professionals from different job sectors including medicine, science and engineering.

Around 160 Year 9 students were given an insight into the skills needed to be successful in different professions.

Deputy headteacher Christine Goodwin, who organised the conference, said the event was an invaluable way of helping the students select subject options to match their future job interests.

She added: "All of the women involved are inspirational role models and many are from industry sectors you might not normally associate with women.

"Some are former students and others parents of pupils at the school and we were delighted they could share their working day experiences so that our students can be better informed when choosing educational options."
