Calendar boys raise cash

A CALENDAR featuring tastefully naked soldiers and armed forces veterans raised over £1,500 for charity.

The Gods of Titan’s calendar, posed for by muscled members of Titan’s Gym in Tranmere, sold out within seven hours of going on sale at Grange & Pyramids shopping centres in Birkenhead on Saturday.

All the money raised will be donated to armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

Gym owner Martin McKane, 32, who came up with the idea, said: “We all had a fantastic day and couldn't believe just how generous the public were for such a good cause,

“Our aim was to raise £1000 for Help for Heroes and we ended up raising over £1513.65.

“I'd like to thank Grange & Pyramids for letting us set up our stall free of charge and would also like to thank Upton-based IT consultancy Sharphorizon for designing the calendars for free.”

The calendar featured 12 gym members, including 22-year-old Chris Tollick from Rock Ferry, who has been in the Royal Mechanical and Electrical Engineers since he was 17 and served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
