Pensby School for Boys, Heswall, celebrate record results with headteacher Phil Sheridan
REVISION evenings to help pupils and their families, ahead of GCSE exams, has helped a Wirral school become the most improved in the borough for the second consecutive year.
The success at Pensby High School for Boys was confirmed as new figures today show students across the borough continue to perform above the national average.
The official performance tables show the percentage of Pensby High School for Boys pupils managing five Cs or above, including maths and English, has rocketed from 40% to 56%.
The big rise means it is the borough’s most improved for the second year in a row.
Delighted deputy headteacher Peter Madden said the success was testament to the partnership between everyone connected to the school and "dynamic teachers".
Initiatives which have complement the school’s continued improvements have included extra classes ahead of the exams and revision evenings.
The special sessions allowed pupils and their parents to discuss revision tips and receive advice ahead of the exams.
