WIRRAL fell silent on Sunday to remember the fallen and all those serving in current conflicts.
Young and old joined former servicemen and women, their families and representatives from the armed forces for services of remembrance across the borough.
A two-minute silence was observed at 11am across the borough.
Poignantly, the families of two Wirral soldiers killed in Afghanistan, Douglas Halliday from Rock Ferry and Phillip Lawrence from Birkenhead, laid wreaths during the Civic Remembrance Sunday commemoration at the Cenotaph in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.
