Work begins on replacing Wirral water pipes

WORK to clean some of Wirral’s largest water pipes started on Monday.

Engineers are inspecting “trunk mains”, which transport millions of litres of water a day through the borough.

The cleaning programme has started on Upton Road at the junction with Boundary Road, Bidston.

Work will continue along Upton Road until it meets Thermopylae Pass – at which point the public footpath will be closed for four to six weeks.

It will move back into the highway at Windermere Road – continuing along Upton Road until the train station is reached.

Work continues until early February, but it will cease over the Christmas period and restart in the New Year.
