A STUDENT who had more than 30 different jobs before pursuing his passion for painting is making his mark on the arts scene.
Steve Sheehan is only in his second year at Wirral Met College but has already exhibited to public acclaim.
His art is brash, shocking and thought-provoking and the 24-year-old is relishing the challenge of getting his work on display and explaining what it’s all about.
He said: “I like art that shocks – not for the sake of simply being scandalous but to get people thinking about what they see in a picture. I want anyone who looks at my work to open their minds and figure out for themselves what’s going on in there.”
Before starting his Access to Higher Education art course Steve, who lives in Woodchurch, had more than 30 different jobs, working in factories, kitchens and doing security work.
A passion for art, inspired by Abstract Impressionists Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline, led him to apply to college to pursue his dream of becoming an artist.
His last brush with education though led him into a spot of hot water.
